When exporting new items to QuickBooks, or automatically exporting items as part of a transaction, you may receive this error if the the item has been set up in ServiceLedger to be exported with an income, asset, or COGS account that no longer exists in QuickBooks. This issue is common when the account list in QuickBooks has been reorganized or cleaned up, and can happen any time an account in QuickBooks is renamed or deleted.

When an item that is set up in SL with an invalid income, asset, or COGS account gets exported to QuickBooks, the following error will appear:

There is an invalid reference to QuickBooks Account "..." in the Item ...

The ... sections in this message will be replaced with the actual account name and item name.

To remedy this situation, you must update either the accounts on the item in SL, or the names of your accounts in QB, to match each other. The SL accounts can be found on the Item window under the Accounting tab. If the Accounting tab is not visible, or visible but not editable, our development team may be able to assist or you can try changing accounts in QB if that is an option.
