Applies to:

  • ServiceLedger 2013 and later
  • QuickBooks Link 2013 and later

When exporting records to QuickBooks, you may receive an error message stating any of the below:

  • Error communicating with QuickBooks
  • Exception Occurred
  • OLE Exception Occurred
  • OLE System Error Occurred

The message may include details on the error, including the XML request that was sent to QuickBooks which caused the error. If the message does not include these details, they will be present in the SLQuickBooks.log or QBMessages.log file in the ServiceLedger folder. If the details of the error are not present in either of these files, you will need to update your QuickBooks link to the latest revision.

Usually these errors are caused by an issue with the request: it will be incorrectly formatted, have tags which are empty or out of order, or have values which have not been correctly encoded. Our support team can often assist you in determining a workaround for the problem by examining the error message.

If you receive one of these messages when exporting records using the QuickBooks Link, please contact our support team for additional assistance.
