Please examine log file summary.txt located at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG

The last entry will detail why your installation failed.  Some reasons include:

  • You attempted to install within a Terminal Server session; you must install from the console directly
  • You are attempting to install on a computer that already has MSXML Core Services 6.0 Service Pack 2 installed, such as one running Windows XP Service Pack 3; In this case you will need to contact ServiceLedger for installation assistance or follow the directions at the following Microsoft KB Article before installing:

  • Your password policy is too strong for the default ServiceLedger SA password; adjust your policy to allow installation, then change your SA password afterward.  Finally restore your policy settings.  Be sure to note your new SA password as you will need it for client workstation installation.  You must adjust SL settings as shown here:
